PCP Rifle Cleaning & MaintenanceUpdated 25 days ago

⚠️ Important: Always ensure your rifle is unloaded and degassed before performing any cleaning or maintenance.

Cleaning

  • Wipe the exterior surfaces with a dry microfiber cloth.
  • To clean the barrel:
    • Use a patch puller or a soft metal cleaning rod (brass or aluminum).
    • Run patches sized for your rifle’s caliber through the barrel.
    • For very dirty barrels, moisten a patch with Ballistol.
      • If using another solution, confirm it is compatible with o-rings.
    • Follow with dry patches.
    • Avoid using brushes.
    • Be careful in the breech area — patches that are too thick can dislodge the breech o-ring.
  • Clean the barrel:
    • Once when you first receive the rifle.
    • Any time you notice accuracy issues.
  • Maintain your filling equipment to ensure clean, dry air is entering your rifle. Reference your filling equipment’s manual.

Lubrication

Steel Air Tubes

  • Apply a thin protective film of firearm lubricant on the exterior surface.
  • Do this if exposed to moisture, cold, or about every 500 rounds.
  • For best results, remove the action from the stock to coat all surfaces.
  • Wipe away excess.

Side Lever Actions

  • Apply a drop of firearm lubricant to:
    • Pivot points
    • Bolt body
  • Use sparingly and wipe up any extra.

Traditional Bolt Actions

  • Cock the bolt.
  • Apply a thin film of white lithium grease to exposed surfaces.
  • Work the bolt forward and back several times to spread.
  • Wipe up any extra.

Long-Term Storage

  • Run a patch moistened with Ballistol through the barrel.
  • Before resuming use, run a couple of dry patches to clear it.

Notes on Lubricants

  • Use 100% pure silicone oil or grease only for high-pressure air components (valve or regulator o-rings, etc.).
  • Do not use firearm lubricants (including Ballistol) on o-rings, valves, or regulators.
  • Avoid using spray lubricants, even if silicone-based.
  • If your rifle uses a fill probe, apply a very light amount of silicone oil or grease to the o-rings and wipe away the excess.

Storage

  • If storing safely away from unauthorized users, leave 1000–1500 psi in your rifle.
